Kyleigh is working as Team Leader at HGS. She started her journey 8 years back as an agent. Here she shares her experience of making the most of learning opportunities and creating her own set of events for a successful career.

What do opportunities mean for Kyleigh?

For Kyleigh, Team Leader on HGS’s account, finding opportunities means creating her own set of events rather than waiting for the right doors to open. Kyleigh began her career in retail and hospitality, working in a restaurant.

She joined HGS eight years ago as an agent. Two years in, Kyleigh advanced to the Lead Associate role, where she handled escalated calls and supported agents.

Eventually, Kyleigh transferred to the recruiting team. After a few years, she realized that she missed the challenges of being in operations and enjoyed the Team Leader role as it allowed her to help others grow. She decided to take a chance and ask for what she wanted. She returned to a Team Leader role and outlined the work schedule that she needed to meet family obligations. Now, she is a Team Leader for one of HGS’s major client.

Lessons learned by Kyleigh during the job change

The experiences which paved the way for this job change taught Kyleigh some important lessons which have helped her to grow and advance in her career.

First, Kyleigh understands the importance of going with the flow and not being so hard on herself. She learned this lesson as she realized the value of allowing herself to make mistakes and grow from those experiences.

In addition, she credits HGS’s family atmosphere as providing a safe environment for learning from mistakes and being herself. She says everyone is always willing to help, answer questions, and support her.

Kyleigh recognizes the value of showing up for work, or as she said, “You have to be at work to experience success.” She credits her reliability as a major factor in her success. She has gained valuable growth opportunities which she would have missed out on if she had not been at work.

Kyleigh’s advice to fellow co-workers

“Don't be afraid to reach out and see what can be done. Learn what steps you can take to continue to grow. Put yourself out there and put in the work. As long as you're willing to be here, put in the work, and do what you're supposed to do, it's pretty easy to show that you're dedicated, and it's common to move up.”
