Job Description



The primary role of the Pharmacy Technician is to review, deny or approve and communicate decisions for prior authorization pharmacy requests according to clinical guidelines.



Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1.      Partner with pharmacists to review coverage determination and render decisions based on clinical criteria

2.      Evaluates and authorizes approval of prior authorization pharmacy requests from prescribers received by telephone and/or facsimile using client clinical criteria

3.      Researches, resolves and documents prior authorization outcomes in the pharmacy system

4.      Gain assistance, when needed, from Senior Technicians, the Senior Help Line and Leadership across all Med D Call Centers

5.      Utilize various call center applications and resources to research and resolve member issues

6.      Held to call center monthly metrics

7.      Communicate decisions to physician, physician office staff, pharmacists and/or management staff

Minimum jOB Requirements: (Education, Experience, Skills)

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of customer service experience required
  • Exemplary verbal communication and customer service skills
  • Must possess a valid Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Certification or Active License Pharmacy Technician
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environment – Call Center Setting
